Anthony has been making his own sketchbooks since 1975, binding handmade watercolour paper and covering them in materials sourced from old suede jackets or leather armchairs. They are all the same size, 11 x 15 inches, each book containing 30 pages. Both sides of the pages are filled with images and when the book is finished another is made.

They are a fascinating visual diary of over a thousand works on paper, filled with drawings, paintings, photographs, and notes, always taking them on his many travels. They are an invaluable source of inspiration when working back in his studio. Taking anywhere between 6 to 18 months to complete, he is now on book 36. They have become his most treasured possessions.
